A Showcase of Talent, Teamwork, and Real-World

Impact

Our 2024-2025 Big Project Presentation to the Board of Education was a tremendous success! Every lab at Grant Career Center stepped up and showcased the incredible skills our students are developing. Their preparation was impressive, their confidence inspiring, and their passion for their fields clearly on display.

Thank you to all who supported our students—and a special shoutout to those who joined us for the presentations. Here’s a look at the amazing projects each lab completed:


🩺 Allied Health

Students hosted a Halloween Party at TruCare for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They created games tailored to different developmental stages, applying communication strategies across the lifespan in a fun, meaningful setting.

🔧 Automotive Technology

Automotive students completed a full race truck conversion! They removed the original 4-cylinder engine from an S10 truck and installed a powerful LS motor. The result? A fully transformed, high-performance race truck—and a project that tested and proved their skills in engine work, tuning, and vehicle modification.

🧱 Construction Tech

Students helped build a 3,700 sq ft township hall for Williamsburg. Juniors and seniors worked together, managing tools, materials, and challenges with professionalism and teamwork. Their craftsmanship helped bring a real community space to life.

💇 Cosmetology

In collaboration with Early Childhood Education, Cosmetology students supported a Motherhood Event. They provided services and helped create a warm, welcoming environment, demonstrating how beauty and care go hand-in-hand with community engagement.

🕵️ Criminal Justice

This year’s big project was a Cold Case Investigation. Students worked in teams to review evidence, simulate crime scenes, and build investigative reports. Their attention to detail and application of real criminal justice procedures made for a powerful, immersive learning experience.

🍽️ Culinary Arts

Culinary students rotated through front- and back-of-house stations, learning every aspect of food service. They hosted five fall buffets, five spring buffets, and a full-service dining experience—including a Fish Fry that served 50 guests. A delicious success!

🧸 Early Childhood Education

Students organized a Fatherhood Event (scheduled for April) and a Barnyard Bash in partnership with Large Animal Science. Both events combined fun and learning for young children and their families—planned and led entirely by our students.

💻 Information Technology

IT students engineered a 3D Filament Recycler to reduce waste and promote sustainability. They built the system using a motor, auger, heating couplers, and a temperature-controlled nozzle. The project required coding, design, and troubleshooting—real tech in action.

🐄 Large Animal Science

In addition to partnering on the Barnyard Bash, students organized and led animal care clinics, practiced livestock handling, and managed barn operations. Their work showed the balance of science, compassion, and responsibility needed in animal-based careers.

Manufacturing Engineering Technology

Students brought digital designs to life using precision tools and fabrication techniques. From concept to final product, they demonstrated problem-solving, attention to detail, and creativity in advanced manufacturing processes.

🔩 Metal Fabrication

Using blueprints provided by PROJECT MFG, students completed full fabrication kits. They handled pre-weld prep, welding, and finishing processes, including painting and clear coating—showcasing high-level welding and shop safety skills.

🐕 Veterinary Science + Clinical Internships

Vet Science students hosted a Vaccine Clinic, performed supervised surgical procedures during Surgery Day, and provided grooming services. These hands-on experiences were further enhanced by Clinical Internships, where students trained alongside veterinary professionals in real-world environments.

These Big Projects are more than just final assignments—they’re real experiences preparing our students for careers and college. We’re proud of every lab and can’t wait to see what’s next!
